BISMILLAHIR RAHMANIR RAHEEM
As the Grand Month of Ramadan 1440( After Hijr) is coming to an end; there’s a global call to all Muslims to adventure in searching for the visual of the new crescent of Shauwal(the immediate month after Ramadan) on Monday the 3rd of June, 2019 immediately after sunset, which also corresponds to the 29th day of Ramadan 1440.
RIYADH: The Supreme Court has called on all Muslims throughout Saudi Arabia to sight the crescent of the month of Shawwal on Monday evening, Ramadan 29, 1440H, corresponding to June 3, 2019.
This will signal the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan and the start of Eid Al-Fitr, or Festival of Breaking the Fast.
In its announcement, the Supreme Court called on whoever sights the crescent by naked eyes or through binoculars to report to the nearest court and register their testimony, or report to the regional authority center in the area where the crescent was sighted the crescent to facilitate his reaching to the nearest court, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Also from Daily Trust in Nigeria: as the 1440 Hijra (2019) Ramadan draws to an end, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has urged Muslims across the country to look for the new moon of Shawwal on Monday. The Deputy Secretary-General, NSCIA, Prof. Salisu Shehu, said this on Sunday in a statement. According to him, following the advice of the National Moon Sighting Committee (NMSC), the NSCIA President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, enjoins the Nigerian Muslim Ummah to search for the crescent of Shawwal 1440 AH immediately after sunset on Monday, June 3, 2019 equivalent to Ramadan 29, 1440 AH.
The responsibility of Muslims searching for the visual of the crescent is not mounted only on Nigeria and Saudi Arabia; the Muslims of Ghana should not also be left out in this goodly adventure. Sighting the crescent of Shauwal this Monday evening shows that tomorrow Tuesday, which is likely to be 1st of Shauwal and marks the day for celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr. And on the contrary, the hibernation of the crescent this evening would thus mount the responsibility of Fasting tomorrow Tuesday;the 4th of June, 2019, corresponding to 30th Ramadan and Wednesday; 5th June,2019 would be 1st Shauwal and the right Day to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.
